How are volcanoes formed?Volcanoes are formed when rock from the mantle melts and moves up towards Earth's surface. When it reaches to the surface, gases are released which causes eruptions. This forms lava flows and ashes. As the volcano continues to erupt, it gets bigger and bigger.
How many volcanoes are there?
There are more than 1500 active volcanoes on Earth. Right now, we know that there are at least 80 volcanoes which are under the sea. Some places with active volcanoes are Japan, Hawaii, California, etc.
